Who is this Mr. Voltz character anyway?
Born and raised in Bemidji, Minnesota, I am excited to now be living and working in central Minnesota. I graduated from Bemidji State University in 2012 and teaching science is my absolute favorite thing to do; I couldn't think of anything more fun! In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, camping and cross country skiing.

Where can I see what my student is doing in science? |
Below is a calendar of things that we are doing in class. I update it as often as I can and it mirrors the "What did I miss?" board in our class (this is where students go to get assignments that were missed due to an absence).

How do you grade?
I grade in a way that is consistent with district policies. Below is the section from the handbook concerning grading percentages.
Percentage = Grade (GPA)
100 – 94 = A (4.0)
93 – 90 = A – (3.67)
89 – 87 = B+ (3.34)
86- 83 = B (3.0)
82 - 80 = B – (2.67)
79 – 77 = C+ (2.34)
76 – 73 = C (2.0)
72 – 70 = C- (1.67)
69 – 68 = D+ (1.34)
67 - 66 = D (1.0)
65 = D- (.67)
65 is passing
64 or below = F (0)

Can I somehow volunteer in your classroom?
Yes! I strongly support a vigorous school to home connection and believe that it helps all students succeed at a higher level. If at any time you wish to share your talents with our classroom ,whether its coming in to give a talk or demonstration, offering outside resources you think would benefit our class, or even just sharing some of your time with us, please let me know with the contact box below (this will be sent directly to my school email). I look forward to hearing from you!
